Petersen to Leave "CSI"

wpetersen.jpg"CSI" is having a fire sale.

First Jorja Fox made her exit. Next came Gary Dourdan. Now, Entertainment Weekly says that eight-year vet William Petersen will leave this show this season.

Petersen plans to take off after the upcoming season's 10th episode. So much for a cliffhanger. However, this won't be the last that we see of Gil Grissom. Petersen will retain his executive producer credit, and may even pop in from time to time on the hit CBS drama.

Fox is also expected to return for a few upcoming episodes. Dourdan will be seen on the season premiere. After that, it's anyone's guess. The producers sure know how to keep the show at the top of those Nielsen charts.

"CSI" is scheduled to return October 9 on CBS. -- Rachel Cericola
