Harvey Keitel Lands on "Mars"

hkeitel.jpgAfter Mandy Patinkin left "Criminal Minds," producers couldn't come together to score Harvey Keitel as a replacement.

In the end, they went with Joe Mantegna. Keitel, on the other hand, has found his home on the small screen; Variety is reporting that he will join the cast of "Life on Mars."

The former Mr. White will star as Det. Gene Hunt, head of homicide. This is Keitel's first full-time television role.

Supposedly the show has been completely revamped since the pilot was shot. Michael Imperioli ("The Sopranos") was also recently added to the cast. It has to be good, right?

"Life on Mars" focuses on a police detective ("Men in Trees" alum Jason O'Mara), who wakes up from a car crash only to discover that he's landed in 1973.

"Life on Mars" will air Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. (EST) this fall on ABC. -- Rachel Cericola
