Rubber-faced comedian Jim Carrey is feeling nostalgic. The funnyman actor who brought physical comedy into the 90s with "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," "The Mask" and "Liar Liar," is developing a HBO comedy revolving around the same type of comedy clubs that made him a star.
According to Variety, Carrey will co-create and executive produce a half-hour project for HBO. The story will feature a woman who inherits an L.A. comedy club and becomes involved in the personal lives of the comedians. MovieWeb reports real-life comedian Lisa Lampanelli will play the central role. Lampanelli is best-known for her guest spots on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and Howard Stern's radio show, as well from several of Comedy Central's roast specials.
The last we'd heard of Carrey, he was busy pitching his newest animated movie "Horton Hears a Who!" earlier this year to anyone who would listen. Variety lists his next projects as a comedy with Ewan McGregor called "I Love You Phillip Morris," another movie called "Yes Man" and Robert Zemeckis' "A Christmas Carol."
No word yet on when the laugh-fest is set to begin. --Chris Sardelli
