Google Teams with "Family Guy" Creator

Google just announced that they are teaming up with Seth MacFarlane, creator of "Family Guy," for an animated web series. The New York Times says the series will be called "Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy."

Aside from the content, the deal is pretty interesting. Google plans to promote the program through its AdSense system. So instead of seeing those multi-lined ads to the side of your screen, there might be a little cartoon web clip. However, less entertaining ads will also accompany the clip -- either before or during, via a scrolling message.

MacFarlane, who is creating 50 2-minute spots for the series, will also receive a chunk of the ad revenue. Not that he needs the money. In May 2008, he parlayed "Family Guy" and his other animated series, "American Dad," into a $100 million dollar deal with Fox -- making him the world's highest paid television writer.

The deal could create a slew of new content for the web, though. Expect the "Cavalcade" to begin this September. -- Rachel Cericola
