Who’s the leader of the web, who offers movies free? M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E.
That’s right -- The Hollywood Reporter says that Disney will offer its movies online, as part of ABC’s ”The Wonderful World of Disney.”
Don’t expect them to offer up the combination to the Disney vault. They will only offer one movie at a time, for a limited time. Selections will include “Monsters, Inc.” (June 16-20), “Haunted Mansion” (June 30-July 4), “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen” (July 7-11), “Princess Diaries 2” (July 14-18), and “Freaky Friday” (July 21-25). Right now, “Finding Nemo” is available through Friday. They will also offer the original movie, ”Camp Rock” on June 23 for 24 hours only.
It’s neat, but not as cool as watching the videos on the big screen. The films aren’t even expandable to full screen on the computer—that would block the ads! Also, don’t try to restart or fast-forward the film, or you will be treated to a repeat ad for Cocoa Pebbles (so delicious...) and the opening plug for “The Wonderful World of Disney.” Still, anything free when it comes to kids, is rare and appreciated.
All selections will air after Saturday night’s “Wonderful World of Disney” broadcast. “Peter Pan” will wrap up the online promotion, with an August 4-8 run. -- Rachel Cericola
