Ben Affleck Reports from the Congo

baffleck.jpgBen Affleck is in the news this week -- and not for rebutting stories of a split from Jennifer Garner.

Instead, ABC News says that Affleck will be featured in a special report this Thursday, on "Nightline." Again, it's not about his life, his wife or his celebrity. Instead, he plans to use that Hollywood power to shed light on the horrors going on in the Congo.

"People should see actors on television doing charitable work and be suspicious of that, and at the end of watching this I hope they find themselves less suspicious of that and more interested in this and perhaps involved in it," Affleck said.

The 35-year-old Oscar winner has been to the area three times over the past eight months. Affleck was inspired by actor Don Cheadle's "Nightline" coverage of the Congo back in 2005.

"Nightline" airs every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. (EST) on ABC. -- Rachel Cericola
