The CW Plans "90210" Spin-Off

90210.jpgMaybe they could call it "90210: The New Class."

According to MovieWeb, The CW wants to create a brand-new teen drama as a spinoff to the original "Beverly Hills, 90210" series. The network is apparently considering "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas as writer for the new program. (That should make Thomas' fans extremely happy, since The CW canceled cult-favorite "Mars" last year.)

There's no news on what the new show would be about, if it would be directly related to the original series or even if any of the original characters would reprise their roles. We'll know soon whether the show is a certainty, as the network will make its decision by the end of the month, says The Hollywood Reporter.

"Beverly Hills, 90210" ruled Fox's schedule for a whole decade, from 1990 to 2000. So there should be plenty of built-in fans for the new show, most of whom are probably wondering what Brenda, Donna, Dylan and the rest of the gang have been up to. --Chris Sardelli
