Showtime Gets the Last "Word"

l-word.jpgGet ready for the last "Word." Showtime just announced that it has picked up "The L Word" for its sixth and final season.

A total of eight episodes are scheduled to wrap up the critically acclaimed, controversial series. Negotiations are underway to get the cast to come back.

"The L Word" focuses on a circle of gay friends living in L.A. The series first premiered in 2004. According to Reuters, the show is on track to become one of Showtime's longest-running series.

The fifth season of "The L Word" will air on March 23. The final season will premiere in early 2009 on Showtime. -- Rachel Cericola
