What do you get when you combine Indiana Jones, Lara Croft and Nicolas Cage's character from "National Treasure"? Probably something close to Mira Sorvino's new role in NBC's upcoming miniseries, "The Last Templar."
As MovieWeb reported, Sorvino will star as Tess Chaykin, the newest treasure-hunting archaeologist to search for long-lost artifacts in this movie based on Raymond Khoury's novel of the same name. Joining her is "Alias" vet Victor Garber, playing Monsignor De Angelis, who assists in her quest. The plot follows Chaykin's pursuit of a stolen Vatican relic that may eventually reveal secrets about the Knights Templar.
Production is scheduled to begin in April, with on-location shoots in Montreal and Morocco. No word yet on when the four-hour miniseries will air. --Chris Sardelli
