Who's Returning to CBS Next Season?

jsmits.jpgThe strike is over!!! Now it's good news/bad news time for several shows on CBS. According to Entertainment Weekly, here's what the network has decided so far:

• 13 shows will be returning for the 2008-2009 TV season, and they are (drum roll, please): all three "CSI" shows, "NCIS," "Criminal Minds," "Cold Case," "Without a Trace," "Ghost Whisperer," "Numbers," "Two and a Half Men," "The Big Bang Theory," "Survivor" and "The Amazing Race."

• 2 shows have already received their pink slips: both "Cane" and "The Unit" have shut down production.

• 5 shows are still up in the air: "How I Met Your Mother" (which is expected to be renewed), "Shark," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Moonlight" and "Rules of Engagement."

Are you happy about the returning shows? Or are you mourning the loss of either "Cane" or "The Unit"? Post your thoughts below! --Chris Sardelli

Throw away the pink slip on Cane. Renew this show. Give it more of a chance. Jimmy Smits is great as the head of Cane.
Now I will be left wondering and wanting more of this show. It is a pleasure to have Jimmy Smits back on TV in a starring role.

Bah to CBS! Thursday night on NBC is the way to go.

I hope they bring back How I Met Your Mother, though. Doogie (Neil Patrick Harris) is hilarious. I can't wait to see him in White Castle 2.

I will be steaming mad if the Unit doesn't return. It is the only show I MUST watch. I am a consistent CBS viewer but will most likely boycott them and let their advertisers know why if the Unit doesn't return.

My wife and I are big fans of both shows. I plan to LOUDLY voice my opinion to CBS if this is reality.

I liked the Unit. There are many military shows like it that have been canceled in the past. I liked this show because it showed different aspects of the men that protect this country and the self and family sacrifice needed to succeed. I think Eric L. Haney's experience and expertise helped the show get to a level that no other military show could. Not everything one of 'em can be like M.A.S.H. Inside Delta Force by Mr. Haney is an excellent read if you can pick it up. And that's just my two cents.

I really hope they don't cancel Christine, my wife and I love that show. I don't remember the last time I saw an interracial couple on network TV. It's one of the only shows we watch together.

I CAN'T BELIEVE CANE IS NOT COMING BACK.
ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY? WHAT AN EXCITING

DISAPPOINTED

i loved this program all the actors were very talented and the storyline was interesting i am a big CBS fan but this was a big miss on your part think again

-- Posted by: rhonda at March 10, 2008 1:38 AM

Are you serious? This is outrageous!! How can CBS not bring back Cane? Every episode, I was on the end of my seat and I've turned so many of my freinds on to the show, including my mom who's as fickle as it comes to TV. Jimmy Smits is great even better than his NYPD Blue days. Please rethink this CBS. You will be making a big mistake. Cane could be as big a TV drama as Dallas was in its heyday!!!!!

-- Posted by: Ira at April 16, 2008 11:39 AM

I am so shocked! Moonlight didn't make it? Moonlight is the highlight of my week!!! I really hope CBS brings Moonlight back next season because it's the greatest show! I'm pretty selective of tv shows because so many of them just aren't worth watching, but Moonlight has it all! Action, suspense, romance! I hope that Moonlight makes it!!!!

-- Posted by: Desiree at May 2, 2008 5:53 PM

I can't believe that CBS won't bring back Cane or the Unit. CBS is the only station that has the shows that I like, so boycotting is starting to sound good. I LOVE both shows - and they kept me wanting more each week.

-- Posted by: Kim at May 9, 2008 8:11 AM

I hope that they do not take Shark off , there is only so many shows that are worth watching any more and this is one of them. the show is different serious, humor.

-- Posted by: becky pingel at May 15, 2008 9:45 AM

The Unit is one of only three shows that I record if I can't be home to watch it. I can't believe that the best show on TV is cancelled! Why not cancel some of those loser reality shows or sitcoms?

-- Posted by: John Swyers at May 18, 2008 9:24 PM

As Cubans we felt very connected to Cane. We are VERY disappointed that CBS will not renew the only Hispanic series this fall. Is there somewhere we can write to express our feelings?

-- Posted by: Mercy & Yoeta at May 20, 2008 1:50 PM

Must bring back Cane. Excellent TV drama, which is hard to find these days. Some of us love a good plot, instead of all this reality stuff.
Bring it back!!!!

-- Posted by: Paula at May 22, 2008 8:51 PM

I'm a person and I vote!! What is wrong with your people to not keep us entertained by Cane? This was a show with class, drama and intelligence. Please reconsider the needs of the rest of your television viewing audience which really needs more than reality/actuality TV & sit com nonsense.

-- Posted by: janet olszewski at May 22, 2008 11:27 PM

I cannot believe that CBS won't be bringing Cane back...it's the only show I watch on CBS...oh, well, NBC we'll have to have me forever! Cane was sophisticated, nail-biting and not to mention a STELLAR cast--unlike a lot of your other shows! What a shame...you won't get the Latino audience doing stuff like this--we'll make sure of that!

Disappointed in Florida!

What is the problem over at CBS? Bring back Cane, Shark, Moonlight, The Unit! I can't believe the numbers are low on these shows. I am just sick to death over this. I am 56 and love these shows. What is the problem with CBS, have they lost their minds?

-- Posted by: Debbi at May 26, 2008 8:48 PM

Well, I'm now down to ONE network TV show a week, that's NCIS. The UNIT was the only other show. I now watch 0 shows on NBC and ABC and just the one on CBS. The Networks stink!

-- Posted by: Bruce at May 27, 2008 10:36 AM

ARE YOU ALL CRAZY????????? You finally put on some wonderful shows that brought me back to CBS and now you have cancelled them, YOU MUST BE KIDDING!! We absolutely love Cane and Shark. I have loved Jimmy Smits since NYPD BLUE and James Woods is one of the best actors that CBS has gotten from the big screen. I have not seen a better show since DALLAS. We are tired of finding really great shows just so you can cancel them. We are tired of reality TV. These were the only two shows we watched on CBS..... GOODBYE TO CBS!!!!

WE WILL BE BACK WHEN THESE SHOWS ARE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Posted by: SANDRA at May 29, 2008 7:10 AM

If the Unit And Cane are gone, NO use in watching CBS anymore.

-- Posted by: Ryan at May 29, 2008 10:22 PM

Please don't cancel The Unit Or Cane,
these were the only two shows we watched on CBS,if these shows are indeed cancelled, I guess you could you could say that we won't be watching CBS at my house, we will have to find something on another network to watch...

The very thing that has brought us back to CBS are being cancelled so therefore if they are cancelled it will force us to watch local independant stations.

Get rid of the stupid sitcoms and Big Brothers. We will watch for a short time if they do not return we will not watch CBS in the future(get rid of Katie Curic)

Thanks J.D. Perry and Better Half

Cane is a fantanstic show. Please bring it back next season.I was such a faithful watcher and Jimmy Smits was excellent in it as was the rest of the cast.

-- Posted by: rc at June 15, 2008 7:17 PM

My mother (82 yrs) and I both watch the Unit, right after NCIS. Removing the Unit is one more reason that we will not be watching Network TV. We already do not watch Network News

-- Posted by: Dayton at July 26, 2008 5:59 PM

I would like to see both "The Unit", "Moonlight" and "Cane" return. While I also like to watch CSI, I see no point in having 3 different versions of the same show.

What! No Cane?! I've been waiting all summer for it's return! Now there are only two programs worth watching instead of three. There's nothing on TV anymore except sitcoms that are not funny and reality shows that I am proud to say, I have never watched! Give me drama, something to keep me interested and tense dying to see the next episode. BRING BACK CANE!

-- Posted by: KAREN at September 8, 2008 3:07 PM

I CANNOT BELEIVE YOU ARE NOT BRING BACK CANE.....MY FIANCE AND I WATCHED IT FAITHFULLY EVERY WEEK. THERE IS NOTHING NEW AND EXCITING OUT THERE TO WATCH ANYMORE.....

-- Posted by: Julie at September 24, 2008 10:52 AM

The Unit was one of the best shows on TV. Why dont you drop one of the NCI's....there are 4! Talk about over done!
