"Las Vegas" Ends Abruptly

jduhamel.jpgThere's suddenly one less guilty-pleasure on TV. That's because NBC just announced the elimination of "Las Vegas" from its lineup.

According to MovieWeb, a drastic loss in viewers forced NBC to cancel the show. As a result, last Friday's episode has now become the series finale. The campy show, about the wacky happenings at the Montecito Casino in Vegas, aired on NBC for over five years. Initially James Caan played the casino owner, but he left the show at the end of last season and was replaced by Tom Selleck. Several other cast members were dumped to cut the budget and improve ratings. Apparently, it didn't work.

NBC has yet to announce what will permanently fill the Fridays at 10 p.m. slot. --Chris Sardelli

what a disgrace, nbc is a pathetic excuse for a network. first the cancel the black donnelly's last year, now las vegas. i'm sure they'll fill the void with another stupid reality show or mindless game show. hopefully tom selleck ends up on another tv show, because he's a great actor

NBC is making a big mistake. Las Vegas was a fun show to watch, now I guess I will stop watching network shows when all they air is stupid reality and game shows. Cheap and greedy is who they are.

I am very disappointed that nbc has desided to cancel Las Vegas. I tuned in every friday night and followed the story line religously. I really hope that nbc will reconsider and bring the show back for a sixth season. Hey they could possibly put ANOTHER lame reality show in its place, that would be just great.

NBC is making another in a long line of mistakes here. Vegas was a diverse entertaining show and the other comments are correct. We'll probably be in for another reality show. All I can say is thank god for showcase and HBO at least they allow creativity to flourish.

Ok, now I only watch 2 shows on network TV and they are both CBS, 0 shows on NBC and 0 on ABC and Fox. Las Vegas was NBC's only shining star among all the idiotic game and reality crap. The network chimps should be replaced with something a little higher on the evolutionary scale.

it is a sad situation when we have narrowed our tv viewing to either the foodnetwork or hgtv...were are the shows that families used to gather together to see.. GONE GONE GONE..way too many reality shows...

BIG MISTAKE!!!!! They should have never cancelled the Show. Everyone in my family watches it everyweek. It makes us laugh, it has suspense, and a story line. The networks ask us as views to get hooked/interested in these shows but then they turn around and let the views down by cancelling our shows. We should have a say if it gets cancelled or not. One more reason for me not to watch NBC. It was the only show I watched on NBC. BIG MISTAKE. Word of mouth goes a long way.

I am completely dissappointed in the decicion to cancel Las Vegas it was one of the shows I actually looked forward to watching, and the fact that you left all the fans hanging without giving them at least some closure is stupid. I feel that this is not only letting your fans down but is also a good way to lose your fans. NBC has done this with other shows as well. I think you need to rethink your plans before you have no fans left at all. As a fan I would think that our opinions should count for something. Enough with the reality junk we are sick of it. I believe you should reconsider putting Las Vegas back on as well as some of the other shows you have axed like Cane. This is the opinion of somebody that use to watch NBC.

so absolutely upset that there is no follow up with the weddings or the baby and Delinda-insane they would leave a storyline that open without some closure.
