In a testament to the popularity of the animated comedy “Family Guy,” Fox has decided to create a spin-off.
According to MovieWeb, the spin-off is tentatively called “Cleveland.” The new show will center around Cleveland Brown, bumbling neighbor to “Family Guy” character Peter Griffin. Seth MacFarlane, who created and writes for “Family Guy,” has already started writing for the new series. The voice of Cleveland, Mike Henry, will reprise his role.
This is pretty big news for a show that Fox initially cancelled. It wasn’t until the network released the first episodes of “Family Guy” on DVD that the show caught on fire. With such widespread popularity, Fox brought the show back to primetime.
There’s no word yet on when “Cleveland” will air, but it’s likely to find a home on Fox’s animated Sunday lineup. –Chris Sardelli
any news on when the remaining season 6 family guy episodes will air?
-- Posted by: john at February 29, 2008 08:02 PMI checked Fox's website to see when the remainder of this season's "Family Guy" episodes would air, but the network hasn't released any info. Although, The Futon Critic website says that as of 2/19/08 "Family Guy," "American Dad" and "The Simpsons" were all headed back into production. So, it's a safe bet that we should see some fresh episodes within the next month or two.
