Howard Stern once called himself ‘King of All Media.' Well, now the world is ready for the Queen. Oprah Winfrey recently announced plans to expand her media empire by debuting a self-titled television channel next year.
The Futon Critic reports Winfrey signed a deal with Discovery Communications to create "OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network." The channel will focus on many of the same topics her other ventures have covered, such as health, beauty, relationship and career issues. Under the new deal, OWN will replace the Discovery Health Channel in 2009 and Winfrey will become chairman of the newly created company, The Oprah Winfrey Network, LLC.
She adds this achievement to her already popular talk show, her magazine "O," her website Oprah.com and her radio show on XM called "Oprah & Friends." Makes you wonder how she finds time to sleep! --Chris Sardelli
