Get ready to find country music’s next big singer (or singers) when “Nashville Star” premieres this summer on its new home, NBC.
The country singing competition makes the move to NBC after the USA Network, which aired the show for five seasons, decided to pass on a sixth season. According to MovieWeb, the show will start casting this month for contestants. Also, it will get an overhaul with a brand-new host, judges and format. While the show used to focus only on single contestants, now it will let duets and groups compete as well.
“Nashville Star” follows a similar format as Fox’s “American Idol,” with judge-approved acts performing live for America’s votes. The show has featured several hosts, including LeAnn Rimes and Jewel, as well as a rotating cast of judges. Look for it this summer on NBC. –Chris Sardelli
