I'm sure this is exactly the hard-hitting journalism the producers of NBC News wanted to cover during election season, the winners of this year's crop of Golden Globes.
Usually, there's plenty of coverage for the Golden Globe Awards, from pre-ceremony red-carpet interviews to the inevitable onslaught of after parties. Not this year. Ever since producers for this year's Globes ceremony announced they were canceling the show, due to the WGA first announcing they would picket the show, NBC has been looking for alternatives to fill the time slot. The network found a solution in Matt Lauer, who will host a two-hour "Dateline NBC" special called "Going For Gold."
According to The Futon Critic, the show will feature several NBC reporters interviewing a slew of stars, including Nikki Blonsky (from last summer's "Hairspray" movie), Sally Field (ABC's "Brothers & Sisters"), Kyra Sedgwick (TNT's "The Closer") and Amy Adams (from both "Enchanted" and "Charlie Wilson's War"). Also, in an odd move, the team from "Football Night in America" will try to guess who will win. Then, the winners will be announced at a press conference. Sounds thrilling!
The replacement show will air Sunday, January 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. on NBC. --Chris Sardelli
