Wayans Brothers Create Comedy for VH1

While comedies on broadcast television have been in decline, the format has surged on cable outlets with shows like TBS's "My Boys" and "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" or USA's "Psych" and "Monk." Now VH1 is dipping into the comedy pool with a new show from the Wayans brothers.

Entertainment Weekly reports the half-hour comedy was developed by three of the famous brothers- Keenan Ivory, Marlon and Shawn Wayans. The show, called "The Life and Times of Marcus "Felony" Brown," will focus on a rookie rapper who moves to LA to focus on his next album. Darius McCrary, who played Eddie Winslow for nine years on ABC's "Family Matters", will play the starring role.

Also starring are Vince Green as his publicity agent E-Z, Jon Abrahams as his manager and Marcello Thedford as his bodyguard Tiny. Despite the writers strike, the pilot is already in production. --Chris Sardelli
