All hail the return of the 1980s. First NBC announced a remake of "Knight Rider" and now it will unveil the revival of "American Gladiators" this January.
Entertainment Weekly has a slideshow of the new competitors and they look even tougher than the originals. Included in the group are: Titan, a 33-year-old Mr. Universe; Toa, a former University of Hawaii defensive tackle; Crush, a 25-year-old female cage fighter; and Fury, a structural engineer and expert pole vaulter. There are twelve competitors in total, six men and six women.
The new show will stick closely to the original, which ran from 1989 to 1996, and will feature such events as the Joust and the Gauntlet. Many of the old favorites, though, now incorporate water into the challenge.
