Paul Feig Will Direct Molly Shannon

NBC is hoping some of that Judd Apatow magic might leak onto its new Molly Shannon sitcom.

Variety says that the network has hired regular Apatow partner Paul Feig to direct "Kath & Kim." The sitcom is based on the Australian comedy about a woman and her daughter.

Along with Apatow, Feig co-created the critically acclaimed ABC series "Freaks & Geeks." He also had a cameo in Apatow's summer hit, "Knocked Up." Recently, Feig just wrapped up a short directing stint for Showtime's "Weeds."

Unless the strike changes anything, "Kath & Kim" is expected to start production this fall. -- Rachel Cericola
