Despite the strike, teen drama "One Tree Hill" will debut its newest season this January.
MovieWeb reports the show will be part of the CW's new Tuesday lineup, premiering January 8 at 8 p.m. before settling into its permanent time slot at 9 p.m. The fifth season opener will change things up, though, by flashing forward four years as the characters finish up with college. This should come as a surprise to fans who just watched those same characters graduate high school in the season finale.
Why the jump through time? According to TV Squad, creator Mark Schwahn thought the cast looked too old to just be starting college, so he advanced the story to match their ages. Look for resolutions to plots about main character Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray), fashion designer/former cheerleader Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Lucas's father Dan, who went to jail last season.
The show has already filmed 12 out of 22 episodes ordered for the season, but will have to stop production until the writers strike concludes. --Chris Sardelli
