When the writers strike began almost four weeks ago, it immediately shut down late-night talk shows. And while most of those shows are still airing reruns, both Jay Leno and Carson Daly are attempting to lure viewers back to their shows.
MovieWeb reports NBC will bring back "Last Call with Carson Daly" next Monday in its regular timeslot at 1:35 a.m. Daly's show will be the first of the late-night programs to return, most likely because it relies less on scripted skits than the shows that precede it.
As for "The Tonight Show," host Jay Leno is trying to lure viewers back by reaching into his archives for some interesting reruns. Leno is going to show five popular celebrities in their early days, says MovieWeb. Viewers will get a chance to time travel and see Tom Hanks pre-"Sleepless in Seattle" in 1992, Julia Roberts fresh from "The Pelican Brief" in 1993, Jennifer Aniston during her "Friends" heyday in 1995, Johnny Depp also in 1995 and a pre-"Bourne" Matt Damon in 2000.
The archived "Tonight Show" episodes air all this week.--Chris Sardelli
