Joss Whedon Heads to the "Dollhouse"

edushku.jpgJoss Whedon just made a lot of fans really happy. The innovative creator of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is returning to television next fall with his newest show, "Dollhouse."

Fox recently announced its order for seven episodes of the new drama created by Whedon and starring actress Eliza Dushku. Variety describes the show as a spy-thriller that focuses on secret agents whose personalities are programmed in a lab called the "Dollhouse" and then sent out on missions. Following each mission, their memories are erased and the agents are reprogrammed.

Dushku, who starred as the vampire slayer Faith on Whedon's "Buffy" series, collaborated with Whedon on her character, Echo. She will star as an agent who slowly becomes aware of her surroundings, despite the programming. And since Dushku had a hand in convincing Whedon to create the series, she's become a producer on the show.

Fox was hoping to start shooting in the spring, but a possible writers strike could halt production until later in the year. --Chris Sardelli

I wish they would do a Buffy spinoff on Faith. And what happened to the supposed Watcher spinoff w/ Giles?
