One good thing to come out of the writers' strike: It may have derailed Chevy Chase. There's a rumor that Chase was to become a semi-regular on "Saturday Night Live." Is this how they plan to freshen up the show?
The 64-year-old actor recently appeared on the aging sketch comedy show, and apparently scored himself a gig. "I met with Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers and they hired me," Chase confirmed. "I told them I'd love to come in and do occasional pieces about politics. They're paying me scale, which is more than I was making when I did the show originally."
However, it's not such a done deal, says G4. "The writing wasn't so good," Chase said of his appearance. Well hey -- those guys had a strike to plan, you know.
There seems to be no definite word on whether Chase will actually return or not. Guess we'll have to wait and see. He is plenty busy, currently guest-starring on ABC's "Brothers & Sisters."
Is this a good idea? Who would you rather see return to the "SNL" stage?

Bring them all back! The original cast are still all funnier than the last couple of decades. Steve Martin, Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase... all are still doing great work.
