R.E.M. Will Debut Song on Anderson Cooper

Does anyone else think it's weird that R.E.M. will debut a song on "Anderson Cooper 360°?"

The band will appear on the CNN talk show tomorrow night, packing a new track, "Until the Day Is Done." The song will be included on the band's new album, which is coming in spring 2008.

However, it's not all about the band. The song will be matched up with clips from CNN's "Planet in Peril," a documentary on the world's environmental crises. The song is actually part of the film's closing credits. See how it all makes sense.?

"With Planet in Peril, Anderson Cooper and his team have done an amazing job capturing global eco-devastation," said singer Michael Stipe. "The images in the film are beautiful, while at the same time heart-breaking and frightening. We are honored to have our song included in this monumental project."

The video trailer will be available on CNN.com starting tomorrow. "Planet in Peril" airs Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24 on CNN.

"Anderson Cooper 360°"airs every weeknight at 10:00 p.m. (EST) on CNN. -- Rachel Cericola
