"Californication" Renewed for Second Season

dduchovny.jpgCable network Showtime recently announced that it will pick up its new series "Californication" for a second season.

This means that after years of chasing Bigfoot and exposing government conspiracies, David Duchovny has finally found a new line of work. The show, which features Duchovny as bed-hopping novelist Hank Moody trying to raise his pre-teen daughter, has racked up impressive ratings for the network. What's most impressive is the increase in viewers since the August 13 premiere, up almost 18 percent according to The Hollywood Reporter. Even Scully would be proud of him for that one.

The show also stars Natascha McElhone as Duchovny's ex-girlfriend Karen and Madeleine Martin as his twelve-year-old daughter Becca. Filming for the second season should begin next April, with new episodes premiering Summer 2008. -- Chris Sardelli
