Summer is finally here and for most people that means relaxing excursions at the beach or jaunts to far-flung locales. But for TV junkies it's just a frustratingly long wait to find out whether Jack really does get off that island. In the meantime, though, television addicts can look forward to clues about what next season holds as the networks unveil new cast additions to favorite shows.
First on the radar is the massively popular "Heroes." NBC just announced their newest superpowered character, to be played by Dania Ramirez. The actress, best known for her role as A.J.'s girlfriend Blanca on HBO's "The Sopranos," will star as Maya, whose powers have yet to be revealed. It shouldn't be too much of a stretch for Ramirez who played the mutant Callisto in last summer's blockbuster "X-Men: The Last Stand." Here's a suggestion for her superpower- the ability to raise NBC's ratings.
NBC also plans yet another character overhaul on the 18th season of "Law & Order" (yes, I said 18th!!!). In a twist, though, the new character is not another pretty assistant district attorney whose sole purpose is to squabble over ethics with Sam Waterston's Jack McCoy. Nope, this time the show's first female detective, Nina Cassady played by actress Milena Govich, exits after only one season. She makes way for a new detective to be played by Jeremy Sisto. Let's hope this show works out better for him than his last one, the ill-fated "Kidnapped." --Chris Sardelli
