Fox Wants More of 'American Dad'

AmericanDad.jpgJust in time for Fourth of July (or post-Father's Day), Fox has decided to renew "American Dad" for a fourth season.

The deal would keep "Dad" on the schedule through the 2008-2009 season.

"American Dad" is the second animated series Seth McFarlane has created for Fox. While it didn't start off as a huge ratings-grabber, Fox must have learned its lesson with McFarlane's other creation -- "Family Guy" -- and decided to keep it around. It now ranks as the number 5 show among viewers 12-17, says Zap2it.

The show features the animated misadventures of Stan Smith, a CIA agent with an eccentric family full of bizarre personalities -- which also includes a sarcastic space alien and a German-speaking goldfish.

"American Dad" airs Sundays at 9:30 p.m. (EST) on Fox. -- Rachel Cericola
