In an effort to save a few bucks, the NBC news department is leaving no Stone unturned -- including its anchor, Stone Phillips.
The network announced that they have no plans to pick up the news achor's contract when it expires this June. Phillips has co-anchored "Dateline" since it premiered in 1992, says TV Week.
There are no plans to replace Phillips. Most likely, co-anchor Ann Curry will work with a series of correspondents.
"Dateline" airs Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays on NBC. -- Rachel Cericola
OK - so you've let a STAR go and the program left in the hands af an imcompentent! Nothing to look at - nothing to see so it's Goodbye Dateline for me.

He is very good and the one reason I always watch Dateline. WHY!!
Big Mistake!!
I'm very sorry to see Stone Phillips is leaving Dateline -- I associate one with the other, and can't imagine the show without him. Good luck, Stone!!!
-- Posted by: Lorraine at July 3, 2007 4:27 PMStone is one of the best broadcasters on NBC. I will no longer watch Dateline. Please reconsider!!!! You have to spend money to make money. Don't be so cheap. If this is the way you do business no wonder your ratings are so poor. Hang in there Stone! There is a better job awaiting you on another station.

It is really a shame that you have compromised Dateline by letting Stone go. You have lost one more viewer.
