It's only been one year since Rosie O'Donnell snagged Meredith Vieira's spot on ABC's "The View," but I guess that's enough controversy for her. After battling Donald Trump, Asian Americans and even Kelly Ripa, O' Donnell is leaving the show. Rosie first announced she would leave after her one-year contract was up, but in a strange move she decided late last week to leave immediately- three weeks early. Her announcement came just days after her heated, 10-minute long on-air spat with fellow co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck over the war in Iraq. Here's a rundown from every perspective: View 1: Rosie- In a written statement, she said: ''I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women.'' Though Fox News reports O'Donnell posted a video on her blog in which she said she "probably won't" speak to Hasselbeck ever again.
View 2: Barbara Walters- As Entertainment Weekly reported, she responded to O'Donnell's early departure by saying: "Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at The View. I am most appreciative."
View 3: The network: ABC Daytime president Brian Frons said: "We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to "The View" and wish her well."
And with that, the Rosie era ends. At least on "The View." -- Chris Sardelli
