Jay Leno Celebrates 15th Year

jleno2.jpgAs hard as it is to believe, Friday's episode of "The Tonight Show" marks host Jay Leno's 15th anniversary on the show. That's 15 years of Man on the Street interviews, where we've learned to our dismay that the average citizen can't name the Vice President. That's 15 years of Jack Hanna sticking strange animals on Jay's head. That's almost 15 years of trading barbs with band leader/laughing man Kevin Eubanks (he started out with Branford Marsalis, but that only lasted a few years).

USA Today listed several memorable events from his tenure:
• The Hugh Grant fiasco, where Jay asked him "What the hell were you thinking?"
• Arnold Schwarzenegger announcing he would run for governor of California
• New York Giants player Jason Sehorn proposing to Angie Harmon

The landmark episode will be Leno's 3,377th. Interestingly, he's hosted every original episode except for one. Back in 2003, he traded jobs for a day with "Today" anchor Katie Couric. Leno has signed on through 2009, after which he'll hand the late-night baton over to "Late Night" host Conan O'Brien. --Chris Sardelli
