Donald Trump didn't want to give NBC execs that chance to turn his famous "you're fired" phrase on him.
Trump's low-rated reality competition "The Apprentice" had been placed on the network's "not sure" list for this fall. Instead of waiting, Trump put in his own pink slip.
A statement released on Friday had Trump saying he was "moving on from 'The Apprentice' to a major new TV venture." Yeah -- I know I can wait.
"The Apprentice" first debuted in 2004, averaging about 20 million viewers. The sixth installment wrapped with about two-thirds of its original audience, says The New York Post. -- Rachel Cericola
