Sorry this news wasn't posted sooner... Veteran comic and Broadway performer Charles Nelson Reilly died on Friday of complications from pneumonia. He was 76.
One of the only openly gay actors of his time, Reilly was probably best known for his wacky antics on "The Tonight Show," as well as his campy guest spots on "Hollywood Squares" and various incarnations of "Match Game" during the 70s and 80s. Recently, he voiced the character of The Dirty Bubble on the popular kiddie cartoon "SpongeBob SquarePants."
His autobiographical one-man play, "The Life of Reilly," was released as a film in 2006 to rave reviews. You can view the trailer and a few clips on Reily's Web site.
Reilly is survived by his longtime partner, Patrick Hughes. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Reilly had been ill for about a year. -- Rachel Cericola
