In a world where TV shows like "The Knights of Prosperity" and "Andy Barker, P.I." are yanked after a mere few episodes, I have to wonder what the thinking is behind Fox's "ultimate" hiatus for "The Loop."
In case you don't remember, "The Loop" premiered in March of 2006. It wasn't a huge ratings grabber, but it was good enough for the network to keep around for a while -- presumably to kick it around like its whipping boy. After seven episodes, it was pulled, but not cancelled... and is supposed to be coming back this June, according to Wikipedia.
The show stars Bret Harrison ("Grounded for Life"), Mimi Rogers and Philips Baker Hall ("Seinfeld's" Bookman).
Supposedly when the show returns, it will focus more on its main character's worklife than his friends. In fact, it looks like his female roommates have been completely cut out of the show -- which was probably a good move. However, will anyone care?
Seven episodes is hardly a foundation to build on. Fox will really have to ramp up some PR to get people interested... in the summer... on Sunday nights.
It would probably be in the show's best interest if everyone forgot about the old episodes and it started fresh. However, the first "season" (did I mention it was seven episodes??) is already out on DVD. Catch up if you want, but it's probably not even necessary.
"The Loop" is expected to return on Sunday, June 10 at 9:30 p.m. (EST) on Fox. Give it a chance. -- Rachel Cericola
But I loved the roommates!!! Esp the brother (it was his brother, right?) I thought the work parts were silly. Oh well, when Fox doesn't want a show to live they sure know how to give it a long and painful death.

Bret Harrison has already signed on for a new show. I think it's on the CW. My guess is that Fox will just burn off "The Loop" during the summer and then kill it.
