James Caan, Nikki Cox Leaving "Las Vegas"

ncox.jpgIt looks like a fifth season of "Las Vegas" might be a gamble after all. When the show returns this fall, it will be without stars James Caan and Nikki Cox.

Caan seemed to hint that he might be leaving the show. After all, there are Playboy mansion parties to attend! Actually the veteran actor is planning to return to the big screen. His last major role was in the 2003 blockbuster, "Elf."

Cox, on the other hand, seemed surprised to be leaving the Sin City-based drama. The rumor is that her departure is part of budget cuts. The rest of the cast is presumably safe.

"Las Vegas" airs every Friday at 9:00 p.m. (EST) on NBC. -- Rachel Cericola

I heard that Tom Selleck is going to replace James Caan. Why can't they both be on the show? I understand James Caan wants to go back to the big screen, but he should still stay signed-on with the show for recurring roles, storylines, etc. Vanessa Marcil does it with General Hospital from time-to-time. As for Nikki Cox, I remember her from General Hospital as well. I know the show needs to make changes to boost the ratings; I'm just not sure cutting Nikki is moving down the right path.

Here is the Selleck story:

I think James Caan and Nikki Cox leaving had a lot to do with the show wanting to cut the budget.

Caan was thinking about leaving anyway, so I think he just decided it was best for the show's budget... Cox did not want to leave, but she has already signed up for a new comedy, "Fugly."

I think Nikki Cox was great. I'd have gotten rid of the "Sam" character,my husband an I both agree, she stinks!

I agree with everyone who thinks Nikki should be kept. I hope they know they are making a huge mistake.

Man, I was really pulling for Danny and Mary to hook up towards the end of the show...I'm sooooooooo sad that they're making Nikki leave! I mean, I think out of all the girls' characters, Nikki Cox's character was the most developed...I really didn't think the Danny/Delinda thing would last, but I guess that's the way it has to be now....

James has been such a BIG part of this show I just love him since Brians Song....I agree stay signd on and reaccuring rols.PLEASE JAMES......

I've always been a fan of the Mary and Danny storyline and I was sooo hoping it would be revisited.. She totally should've stayed on the show. I think it's stupid that they're cutting her and James out. But I do look forward to Tom Selleck being on the show. :( I'm kinda of sad.. I hope she comes back

Tom Selleck on the show is a big snore and James Caan made the show.

I really like Ed Deline(James Caan) on the show. He is a really good acter. I did notice that he is walking with a limp though. He is getting old. I hope that he is ok. Well, Nikki Cox has too much stuff in her lips. Her chest is always out and does not look good. Every time she came on my wife would make a comment about her chest. She needs to cover up. Anyway, I hope that the show did not jump the shark. Peace,

James Caan was a key character in Vegas and they should have kept him. He is Las Vegas.
Mary was good as well.
Instead of that new girl why didn't they just keep Mary?

Nikki screwed herself when she had her brest reduction. She ruined what got her famous in the first place. Anyone can see how they just hang there now instad of fill out the blouse like they used to..very sad. There needs to be a panel of men that get to decide if hot chicks are allowed to have any work done to their brests. I will chair the panel!

I will miss James Caan, but hope he will at least return once in a while and hope he is happy with whatever he is doing. It was his choice and that's great, but Nikki should have been able to stay, I really miss her as I'm sure many do. It really loses something not having her there.

Please leave James Caan and Nikki Cox on the show. If it is not broke, don't fix it. BUDGET CUT MY ...!!!

-- Posted by: Anonymous at November 9, 2007 1:08 PM

yeah I got something to say. Get rid of Sam and bring back Mary.

-- Posted by: amara at February 20, 2008 11:58 PM

James Caan made tht show. To replace him with Seleck is laughable at best. This will be the last season for Vegas, if not mid season. Money troubles - that;s just stupid. They should have spent more money, better stunts, better action, not less. That was the demise of this show, some cheap wad starting making cuts cutting the quality of the show. You should fire his cheap ass right out the window.

Las Vegas would and never will be the same without James Caan as well as the rest of the origional cast. I understand bringing in Tom Sellick briefly for what ever reason (confidential), But James Caan makes or breaks the show. If he's not there anymore I guess Im not there anymore. He brings something that makes you want to watch. He has that certain kind of personality that fits like a glove for that part.

Dont know you personal dealings but hope you can see your way clear to stay.
