Gieco Caveman Getting Sitcom

caveman.jpgI've heard of product placements in TV shows, but this is just ridiculous. The Geico caveman is getting a sitcom.

ABC has ordered a pilot called "Cavemen." It follows a group of cavemen (and possibly cavewomen) as they deal with their day-to-day in 2007, says the Washington Post. It's sort of like "Friends," except with a lot more facial hair.

Am I the only one that is completely annoyed by these commercials? I didn't like it the first time, wasn't thrilled that it was a campaign series, and certainly won't be tuning in to see what wacky antics they will be up to each week. There's only one prehistoric sitcom star in these eyes. He's animated, and drives a car courtesy of his own two feet.

There's no guarantee that the show will make it to air. The same writer behind the ad campaign will be writing the pilot. -- Rachel Cericola

Those commercials are the best. Anyone who is annoyed at those commercials is lame.

Then I am the lamest person on the planet... and I am OK with it.

I guess the blog's author is in the minority. Those commercials rock.

I was just telling my wife the other day, "If they ever made a sitcom about these cavemen, I would definitely watch it." I luv those ads! Especially the one with the therapist. Whoever came up with the concept is a complete genius!

I happen to like the commericials, but I understand being in the minority when it comes to humor. Hated "The Graduate" with Dustin Hoffman, still do.

I absolutely love those commercials. I wish I could find out more about those guys. I also thought they should have their own show on tv. I'll be sure to watch and laugh my arse off. If they need people for the show I would be more than happy to

I love it entirely. And the fact that you might not like what I do is Ok with me. Get on with it.

It's funny that you mention The Graduate, Devon....

Is it just me, or does that one commercial, where the song "Remind Me" is being played and the caveman is riding the moving sidewalk, remind (no pun intended) anyone of The Graduate's opening scene, where Benjamin Braddock is riding the moving sidewalk in the same lethargic, pensive manner? The rooms/hallways looks almost identical.

Am I alone there?

Those comercials rock! What is wrong with you people... I can't wait to see the show. What does the graduate have to do with the price of beans? The concept of show would be the next best thing to blue berry pie with whipped cream and a cheppy on top. Well, it should be funny anyway.

Rachel Cericola is a friggin' genius. These comercials are the best.

I actually wrote gieco a month ago, and begged them to make a show, because i can't get enough of these charactors...they are so good, their attitudes are great! I hope they will keep it simple and edgy at the same time, and I hope it goes big, bigger, biggest! wouldn't that be so easy, with them...after all a CAVEMAN...can do it!

If you hate it don't watch it. There is plenty of garbage out there that I simply don't watch because I won't waste my time. Reality shows for one, but this caveman idea has plenty of possiblities for some great laughs. I for one am looking forward to it.

I think the Caveman commercials, characters, one-liners, situations, etc., etc., etc., are humorous, inventive, creative and just downright delightful. It does take a bit of educative thought to appreciate the level of humor that is offered, which is why I'm afraid this might not make it...people watch television to vegitate, not think. Good luck Caveman and I'll be watching when you come to the big screen!!!

the commercial with the caveman walking through the airport, now that one is classic.

I continually look forward to the next Caveman commercial. The series should be great.
