Kirstie Alley Gets a Sitcom

kalley.jpgWith her recent credits including Pier One and Jenny Craig spokesperson, it's good to see Kirstie Alley get back to "real" TV. The Emmy winner has been cast to play a rebel-turned-preacher in the Fox pilot "The Minister of Divine."

The half-hour sitcom is based on the British comedy, "The Vicar of Dibley," says BBC News.

Alley works well in the sitcom format. Hell -- I even enjoyed her last show, "Fat Actress." I'm just not sure if I can get over seeing her shriek for "fettuccine (!!)" on those Jenny Craig commercials.

There's no word on when the pilot will go into production. Alley followed up her six-year stint on "Cheers" with a slew of projects, including the long-running sitcom "Veronica's Closet" and most recently, Showtime's "Fat Actress." -- Rachel Cericola
