With her recent credits including Pier One and Jenny Craig spokesperson, it's good to see Kirstie Alley get back to "real" TV. The Emmy winner has been cast to play a rebel-turned-preacher in the Fox pilot "The Minister of Divine."
The half-hour sitcom is based on the British comedy, "The Vicar of Dibley," says BBC News.
Alley works well in the sitcom format. Hell -- I even enjoyed her last show, "Fat Actress." I'm just not sure if I can get over seeing her shriek for "fettuccine (!!)" on those Jenny Craig commercials.
There's no word on when the pilot will go into production. Alley followed up her six-year stint on "Cheers" with a slew of projects, including the long-running sitcom "Veronica's Closet" and most recently, Showtime's "Fat Actress." -- Rachel Cericola
