Yvonne De Carlo Dies

Yvonne De Carlo, who was probably best known as vampire mom Lily Munster, has died at the age of 84.

De Carlo, who was born Peggy (although some argue it was Margaret) Yvonne Middlton, died of natural causes on Monday at the Motion Picture & Television retirement facility in Woodland Hills, California, says E! Online.

The actress began her 50-year career in B movies, and went on to star in epics such as "The Ten Commandments" and won a Tony in 1972. However, it was her small screen stint that was her most memorable.

De Carlo starred in "The Munsters" from 1964 to 1966, and then reprised the role for two movie spin-offs. According to, her last role was in the 1995 TV movie, "The Barefoot Executive." -- Rachel Cericola

So sad. One of my earliest tv memories is of watching the Munsters on Nick at Nite.
