With "The Sopranos" and "Deadwood" on their way out, fans are wondering what to do with their time. HBO is already planning programming to fill your TiVo.
They've picked up "12 Miles of Bad Road," a one-hour comedy from "Designing Women" creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason. The show stars Lily Tomlin as the head of a wealthy Texas family. It sounds interesting, but I am wondering if it would be better suited in the traditional half-hour comedy format. HBO was wondering the same thing, says the Hollywood Reporter, but decided to see if the original format would fly. We shall see...
The other show is the half-hour drama, "In Treatment," starring Gabriel Byrne as a therapist with a serious need for his own shrink. The series is based on a popular Israeli series with the same name, which ran five nights a week for nine weeks. It's unknown how the show will air on cable, but thanks to the success of "Entourage," executive producer Mark Wahlberg had no problem getting this show into production -- as well as an order for 45 (!) episodes.
"In Treatment" will also include Oscar-winner Dianne Wiest and Blair Underwood. No word on when either show will make it into the HBO schedule. -- Rachel Cericola
