Supernova Gets New Name

lrossi.jpgInstead of putting up a fight for their name, the made-for-TV supergroup formerly known as Supernova has changed their name to -- wait for it -- Rock Star Supernova. How long did it take them to come up with that?

The Washington Post says that CBS and reality-show-super-genius Mark Burnett have changed the name of their group as part of a settlement with a California punk band that goes by the same name.

On September 12, a Federal District Court in San Diego had told the TV band that they needed to cease using the name Supernova. I guess this is sort of a compromise.

Rock Star Supernova -- the band and the TV show -- includes Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke, Jason Newsted and prizewinner/singer Lukas Rossi. The band will kick off its first tour on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas. -- Rachel Cericola
