HBO Drops Louis C.K.

luckylouie.jpgHBO may be short on original series these days, and now the roster has just gotten a little smaller. The Hollywood Reporter says that HBO has decided not to pick up "Lucky Louie" for a second season.

The series was created by and starred comedian and former "Chris Rock Show" writer and performer Louis C.K. This was the network's first foray into the multi-camera sitcom format.

"Lucky Louie" had a 12-episode run this summer. The show averaged about 1.3 million viewers; 1 million less than its lead in, "Entourage." -- Rachel Cericola

I thought this show was great and I'm sorry to see it go.

This was a great example of television pandering to the lowest common denominator. It's like some numb executive at HBO said, "I've had my fill of literate, classy programming such as Sopranos, Deadwood, Curb, and Entourage. I think there's room for profanity-driven swill about drug dealers, bad parenting, and miserable bottom-feeders in a bad marriage." On FOX it's called "'Til Death" and on HBO it's called "Lucky Louie." The subject matter would not have been a crime if the show were funny. Instead the real crime was that the weak acting married with weak writing to leave the viewer with the post-broadcast impression that they'd just spent the past half hour listening to amateurs swear at one another. The only remotely interesting thing about the show was the ineptitude of the direction, which was so amateurish that there was a train-wreck-like fascination to see whether the boom would drop into the shot. Absolutely the worst original program HBO has foisted upon its subscribers. Bad enough to permanently distort one's otherwise high opinion of HBOs standards. Maybe it's just TV after all.

I thought this show was hysterical. How many shows can get away with calling someone the C-Word? I am a female and cracked up every episode. I will really miss watching it.

Greg, you suck. Go watch another David Lynch film and leave the comedy to the people who want to laugh.

I like Lucky Louie. As a show and as a person.

This show was the BEST! What a shame it's gone - I hope to see Louie do some stand-up in my area soon!
