"Grease" is the Word

grease.jpg"Grease" may be the word, but does that word translate into ratings? TV Week says that NBC has announced a new reality show that will watch as Broadway hopefuls vie for the two top spots in a production of "Grease."

The show, titled "You're the One That We Want," will look to cast the characters of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski. The judges will include "Grease" co-creator Jim Jacobs, director/choreographer Kathleen Marshall and British theater mogul David Ian.

"Grease" first debuted on Broadway in 1972, with the John Travolta/Olivia Newton-John film hitting theaters six years later.

There's no word on an exact premiere date for the show, but it is slated as a mid-season replacement. Tickets will go on sale for the new production on December 1st, with the show opening on Broadway in June 2007. -- Rachel Cericola
