Say what you will about "ER," but they certainly know how to keep things interesting when it comes to changing up the cast. ComingSoon.net is reporting that Forest Whitaker and Busy Philipps will both be admitted at some point this season.
Whitaker will star as a carpenter who comes to County General for a nagging cough, only to suffer a stroke while waiting for treatment. The acclaimed actor and director is also working on five upcoming films, as well as working full time on FX's "The Shield." Expect him to first pop up on October 19, just in time for sweeps.
Philipps will appear in four episodes as a devout Christian and intern. It will be nice to see her team back up with her "Freaks and Geeks" costar, "ER" regular Linda Cardellini.
John Stamos will also be joining the cast full-time as Tony Gates, a med student/paramedic, and possible love interest for Parminder Nagra's Dr. Neela Rasgotra.
The 13th season of "ER" debuts on September 21 at 10:00 p.m. (EST) on NBC. -- Rachel Cericola
