Leno Fills in for Ebert

jleno.jpgReuters says that Jay Leno has gotten the thumbs-up to fill in as a co-host on "Ebert & Roeper."

Doesn't this guy have enough to do? The late-night host will fill in for critic Roger Ebert, who is currently recuperating from cancer surgery. Frankly, I am convinced that Ebert just doesn't want to review "Miami Vice."

Regardless, Leno seems like an odd selection. If they wanted to go the funny route, they should have gotten Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

Leno will appear on the August 5-6 episode, which will review the Colin Farrell/Jamie Foxx action flick, as well as "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," "Little Miss Sunshine," "The Night Listener" and "Shadowboxer." Director Kevin Smith will take over co-hosting duties the following weekend.

"Ebert & Roeper" airs every weekend. Check your local listings for showtimes and channel info. -- Rachel Cericola
