CBS Launches Innertube

BBQBill.jpgABC and NBC may be offering a slew of content through iTunes and their own Web sites, but CBS has just created an entire network for new content. TV Week says that the network has launched Innertube, an ad-supported broadband channel linked off of

Innertube will host current CBS programming as well as originals. The question is: Can we expect even more versions of 'CSI?" Actually, that might be a good thing. According to reports, the initial offering will rotate three shows a day, including "Greek to Chic," "BBQ Bill" (that guy looks entertaining, doesn't he?), "Animate This!" and "Beyond Survivor."

Not to sound cynical, but at least one of those programs sounds like a rip-off from another network and another like scraps left over from the cutting room floor. However, I will try to reserve further taunts until I've actually taken the time to watch something.

One good thing: They will also show episodes of shows that have been cancelled, including "Love Monkey" and "Fire Me…Please." However, there is no word on whether those are previously aired episodes or ones that never quite made it to air.

Not exactly "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives" now, is it? Stay tuned. In the meantime, Innertube programming is currently available online. -- Rachel Cericola

Got something to say? Post a comment: far I'm not impressed but I guess we should give them props for getting into the game. I checked out the Greek to Chic and was actually embarassed for the folks involved. (esp. at the point where the hosts announce to a FRAT HOUSE that they just won a year's worth of Dr. Pepper.)Whoop. E. Now..I'm a Pepper as much as the next guy...but I can't imagine Frat Boy asking Sorority Girl at the next kegger if he can grab her a Pepper...unless its Revenge of the Nerds theme night.
