Meredith Vieira Takes on "Today"

vieira.jpgWell that didn't take long. Katie Couric's "Today" show seat isn't even cold yet and ABC News is reporting that Meredith Vieira has been chosen as her replacement.

Couric announced yesterday that she will be leaving the daytime show after 15 years to serve as CBS' first full-time female anchor.

Ann Curry must be livid. I'm not sure how much money she is getting to move from ABC to NBC, but partnering with Matt Lauer has got to be more pleasant than Star Jones.

Vieira spent time as a correspondent for "60 Minutes" before taking a seat on the couch at "The View." She also received an Emmy for her daytime hosting duties on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." Her first episode of "Today" will air this September. -- Rachel Cericola
