"Heist" Gets Axed

heist.jpgIf you blinked, you probably missed the premiere of NBC's "Heist." Unfortunately, you're not going to get a second chance. The TV Squad says that NBC has pulled the show after only two episodes.

I'm starting to get annoyed with this network trend to pull shows so quick. Don't hype a show up to the sky and then not give anyone a chance to watch it.

It sounded kind of interesting and they were practically skywriting about how they bagged a deal with Doug Liman. Um, is anyone that saw "Mr & Mrs. Smith" that surprised?

No word on what will replace the show, but don't expect it to run its course with the original order of 13 episodes. -- Rachel Cericola

Got something to say? Post a comment:

I will never understand why this keeps happening. Is it because the shows cost too much to produce? What level of viewership does a show need to have when it premieres? 30 million? 40 million? And how the hell are shows supposed to develop an audience if they don't get a chance? I'm not saying Heist was worth it -- the 30 minutes I saw of the pilot were just "eh" -- but cancelling it so soon seems counter-intuitive to me.

-- Posted by: mac at April 7, 2006 5:16 PM

This is so typical of NBC. Pull a show without even giving it a chance. And they wonder why people dont watch their station. The show deserves a chance to build up an audience, and sorry, 2 shows is not enough to accomplish that.

What is wrong with NBC.
The Heist was just getting started.
Why did they do this. NBC ought
to be ashamed of themselves.
I bet NBC will be the loser in the
end - because of there decision
to cancel this wonderful- mini-series.

HEIST WAS CANNED BECAUSE OF THE MAFIA. THE SHOW WAS PARTIALLY WRITTEN BY WEST COAST MAFIOSO SONNY D'ANGELO. NBC HAD RECEIVED SEVERAL PHONE CALLS FROM THE CHRISTIAN COALLITION, THREATENING TO BOYCOTT THE NETWORK. THE SHOW, AND IT'S CREW, WAS CORRUPTING FAMILY VALUES ANDCHRISTIAN MORALS. SONNY D'ANGELO, KNOWN TO BE CONNECTED TO THE WEST COAST GOTTI FAMILY AND JOHNNY FRATTO, IS ACTUALLY A DEVOUT CATHOLIC. NBC NEEDS A SERIOUS BRAIN TRANSPLANT.

NBC WILL NEVER BE SUCCESSFUL BY CANCELLING A GOOD SHOW SUCH AS "HEIST" AFTER ONLY TWO EPISODES. THE SHOW HAS JUST GOT STARTED! AND IT IS A WONDERFUL MINI SERIES. I REALLY LOOK FORWARD FOR WEDNESDAY TO SEE IT . NBC..YOU ARE GOING TO REGRET BY CANCELLING A WELL WRITTEN SERIES AND YOU WILL LOOSE A LOT OF AUDIENCE FOR THS SPECIALLY IN CANADA.

They cancel "Heist", an interesting show that has developing stories for the characters and has some great actors in it, but they keep other shows that have had their chance for way too long, going forever? I don't get it. I really don't. Give "Heist" a better chance.

-- Posted by: Tara at April 8, 2006 10:21 AM

Whatever the reason is for NBC cancelling "Heist", I'm very disappointed as they really never gave the show a chance!! Just when we were just beginning to get hooked on the show, NBC pulls it! NBC seriously needs to reconsider some other shows that are badly written. I hope they reconsider and let us the audience show'em what we want!! We really want the show for the 13 episodes it deserves! If we all really want the show, let's write to NBC executives and let them know what WE want! Come on everyone, let's support the show if we really want it and show NBC that our voice and ratings count for something!

I have to agree with NBC this time, there is a lot of money involved in making and airing a show and if the audience is small, it's not worth it, and frankly they can’t rely on the hope that the show will eventually pick up, !unfortunately that’s how it goes! BUT it is also NBC'S fault by getting insufficient writers that could not pull up the show, don't give me wrong I liked "Mr and Mrs Smith" but they were cliche characters and under develop, and if from the first episode I don't care much for the main character or worse if I don't believe in him, then what would be the purpose?, I can't say that NBC'S idea was bad, it was the execution.

-- Posted by: Juliana at April 9, 2006 4:50 PM

NBC should bring back "The Biggest Loser". Loyal viewers of that show are boycotting new NBC pilots!

-- Posted by: MyOpinions at April 10, 2006 2:28 PM

NBC Should bring back Heist.

It had no chance to build up an audience as it was pulled so rapidly.

-- Posted by: Tony at April 13, 2006 12:10 PM

The pilot was so god-awful it's no wonder they yanked it so soon.

-- Posted by: Scota at April 14, 2006 2:20 AM

I was disgusted with the programing on network televison. Heist was the only reason I turned on the television on Wednesday nights. Good bye to another customer.

Are you serious? How di I know this would happen. After watching the first episode I told my boyfriend that NBC would cancel this after a few episodes. It was a great show, my boyfriend does not watch t.v. but he would watch this with me. Way to go NBC, you keep churning out crap but getting rid of the goos stuff. Lost another one.

-- Posted by: Louvia at April 28, 2006 9:10 AM

NBC must be having a hellofa dart game going on in the boardroom of the programing department. The cancelling of "THE HEIST" attests to the absence of any `gray matter`....MJKjr

It's wednesday may 3rd and I've just figured out that Heist got canceled.I was looking for it last week and thought it's time slot must have been moved.
I thought it was a great show, something to compete w/ ABC programing.
Way to go NBC 1st you let Katie go and know you've got nothing adult worth watching.
Hay maybe you can give to Fox or HBO
Glad I've got pay TV

Wow! NBC has to be the worst station ever. Me and a group of my friends would all watch Heist together and discuss how frickin sweet it was at school. This show was different and I loved it! Why would you pull it when the last episode they showed was a LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION? WHY WHY WHY? This show was an ultimate thriller, and the only reason I watched NBC besides Leno. If NBC keeps on pulling sweet shows like Heist, I won't feel bad for them anymore. Maybe if they didn't pick craphole shows. Holy crap, Deal or No Deal is on three times a week! The only show thats making money, their probaly giving more away than they get themselves. You can't end a great show like that, they should have sucked it up and let it run the full 13 episode course. I'm mad, dissapointed, and turned off by NBC's stupid antics. They need someone to step up and not be scared to spend a little extra money to get good shows back on NBC. I'm just a little frusterated, thats all.

-- Posted by: Ike at May 10, 2006 10:32 PM

the ONLY thing I watched on NBC was Heist. I Loved It. 5 Episodes then out of no where bye bye. I was telling everyone at work about it and i work in a call center so you know word gets around. before I knew it everyone was talking bout the show. then without warning gone. so stupid of NBC. I watch some shows that are on NBC but only on the second hand networks they sell the shows to. That was the only show keeping me from watching everything on CBS. Atleast they are smart enough to ride out shows to see how well they do in an Entire Season first.

NBC Sucks majorly!!!

-- Posted by: Jenny at May 11, 2006 1:54 PM

I WAS REALLY ENJOYING THIS SHOW AND WHAM GONE, YOU KNOW THE REALLY GOOD SHOWS LIKE MASH HAD BAD RATEINGS IN THE BEGINING AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED WITH THAT, I THINK ANY SHOW GOING UP NEXT TO CSI OR LAW AND ORDER WON'T HAVE THERE RATEINGS, BUT HEIST DID HAVE A GOOD START AND I FEEL WILL DO GOOD ON ANOTHER NETWORK LIKE CABLE WHERE WHO CARES ABOUT RATEINGS. IF YOU DON'T WANT IT ON NBC, TRY TO PUT IT OUT ON DVD. VERY UPSET GP

-- Posted by: GP at May 17, 2006 10:59 AM

What is the matter with NBC? Shows are promoted and then cancelled without any notice after just a few episodes. Usually because they are put into difficult time slots and then get bad rating numbers. TV viewers need to let networks know they woun't stand for this kind behavior. I intend to stop watching networks that practice this type business. Heist was a very entertaining and interesting story that NBC didn't give time to work. Changing it's time slot didn't help either. Putting it up against Lost and was insane. You can only TIVO a couple of shows at one time you know. I hope you will put Heist back on during the Summer season so it's fans can really enjoy the whole series.

-- Posted by: Robert Cowell at May 23, 2006 3:17 PM

I'm sad heist is gone. :( I was hoping they were just taking a break for their lame dateline: "catch a perv" series then come to find out it's canceled stupid NBC.

-- Posted by: Mike at May 29, 2006 2:05 PM

Why? Its the only show I really could'nt wait to see what happened.
At least let us see the whole 13 episodes.

-- Posted by: linda at May 30, 2006 10:42 PM

I think part opf these "low ratings" are the network's fault. I know they put it up against another big hit, well many viewers did just like my mom and watched t he other show and then caught the replays of Heist on Bravo.

What junk that such a good show gets cancelled!!

-- Posted by: Nikki at June 4, 2006 10:00 PM

Figures. Only shows that succeed appeal to the lowest common denominator. Here you have a show that forces the viewer to think and pay attention, and it gets cut. If it doesn't have nearly bare breasts and sexual innuendo, potty jokes, or caricaturistic and degrading portrayals of supporting characters, you won't give it a chance. No wonder NBC is struggling so much. If you had given up so quickly on projects like "Friends" or Seinfeld", you'd be in bankruptcy court by now.

-- Posted by: Stewart at June 7, 2006 12:20 PM

I really liked Heist. It is a good show and NBC reaally should rethink their policy about yanking shows as soon as the ratings go down a little. Give the show a chance, change the time slot, and think about the viewers. People were just beginning to bond with the show and telling their friends about it. Now I won't even start to watch a new show on NBC because it stands a very good chance of being cancelled. I think the network may have lost more viewers by cancelling the show especially since there was no replacement.

-- Posted by: Betty at September 2, 2006 4:37 PM

First Heist, then Conviction. The Law & Order Shows are the only reason left that I ever tune into my NBC affilate now. These new "must see" shows will never succeed if you don't give them an opportunity to develope a customer following through good story telling, interesting plot-lines and patience on your part. You can't continue to give poor customer service and expect repeat business forever. Please reconsider.

-- Posted by: Kevin at September 5, 2006 3:12 PM

NBC- this was a crime show with a twist.
I enjoyed and looked forward each week to view what the show had to offer.

For once a good show is aired and you pull the plug, there are many other shows the plug should have been pulled on, but they stay.

Bring it back and let it run out the season, then take a count on what the people want.

-- Posted by: Grace Martin at October 23, 2006 2:41 AM

ithink that is a bunch of shit
i loved heist it was going to get good NBC should bring it back they could have gotten a bunch of fans for that show but no they have to pull it i saw the first episode and the second one and was expecting a third one when i was looking for it there was some different show there and that PISSED ME OFF

NBC

DO US A BIG FAVOR

PLEASE BRING IT BACK

and especially give it a good chance if you do

what if some other station decided to bring the show back

that would be great
