Isaac Hayes Quits "South Park"

spark_chef.jpgAfter years of voicing Chef on Comedy Central's "South Park," Isaac Hayes is quitting the controversial cartoon.

ABC News says that the soulful singer has decided to no longer participate in the hit animated show, because he is sick of their stance on religion. "Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored," he said. While he acknowledges that the show is indeed satire, he also thinks there is a line -- and it's been crossed.

Hayes, an outspoken Scientologist, has been a voice for the cartoon since 1997.

Co-creator Matt Stone wasn't exactly thrilled with Hayes decision, telling the Associated Press, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem -- and he's cashed plenty of checks -- with our show making fun of Christians." Ouch.

South Park is still running strong, with reruns in syndication and original episodes still airing on Comedy Central every Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. (EST) -- Rachel Cericola
