David Arquette Heeds "Emergency"

darquette_grey.jpgLooks like Courteney Cox won't be the biggest TV star in the house come this fall. While she's dishing "Dirt" on FX, ComingSoon.net says that husband David Arquette will be starring in the new ABC sitcom "In Case of Emergency."

I thought maybe Arquette would play an EMT or something. No dice. Instead he will plays a slick, wealthy businessman. Not sure if I see that. He decides to kill himself after an Enron-type scandal explodes, but instead shoots himself in the foot. Now that I can see.

He is part of the cast's four recently reunited friends. Sounds a bit like one or two other shows premiering this fall -- except this one is supposedly funny.

Jon Favreau ("Swingers," "Elf") is directing the pilot, which sets my expectations pretty high. Other cast members include Jonathan Silverman, Greg Germann and Kelly Hu.

ABC has given "In Case of Emergency" a six-episode commitment. No word on when it might premiere. -- Rachel Cericola
