Dane Cook Signs HBO Deal

Let's put this out there right off the bat: I am a Dane Cook fan. Frankly, if you don't like him, you can "suck by back."

Apparently a lot of people don't care for this chart-topping, slightly off-balanced comedian. But guess who doesn't care? Dane Cook.

Entertainment Weekly says that Cook has signed a big deal with HBO. Now to be fair, people were excited when Lisa Kudrow signed a deal too, and look how that turned out.

This one, however, sounds like it might be pretty lucrative for the up-and-coming star, and it includes a comedy specials aplenty, a documentary-style series and possibly a scripted series. And if that's not enough Dane for you, he'll also be recording a slew of shorts to be available exclusively as downloads for iPods and cell phones.

Sure his movie career hasn't exactly skyrocketed, with snoozers like "Waiting" and "London," but it looks like the laughter isn't ready to die down just yet. -- Rachel Cericola
