"Arrested Development" Creator Bails

ADgobbanana.jpgIt's hard for me to type through the tears. Variety is reporting that after months of speculation, Mitch Hurwitz has decided to jump ship on his critically acclaimed sitcom, "Arrested Development."

This is seriously bad news for anyone that was hoping that the show would move to Showtime. The rumor was that the network was very interested -- if Hurwitz was attached.

Who could blame the guy though? The entire project has been on hold for a while now, and despite numerous reports and gossip, Fox still has not officially cancelled the show. The guy has to be drained. However, Variety says it has to do with creative and financial differences between 20th Century Fox, Imagine Television and possible new network Showtime.

"Of course, if there was enough money in it, I would have happily abandoned the fans' need for quality. But as it turns out, there wasn't," Hurwitz said in an interview.

Assuming that the deal still goes through, which is doubtful at this point (but still possible!), expect a lot of others to jump ship as well. -- Rachel Cericola

First to post... Does that makes me first to cry? I feel heart-wrenched. Surely not the last to say.. Huge Mistake.

OH MY GOD...!

I can't say I didn't see this coming. It was only obvious with the season, regretfully now, series finale of the show. "On the epilogue." Tying everything back to the Pilot episode.

It still comes with a shock though. I feel he made the right decision, but I still want to send Hutwitz an envelope full of glitter and my head shots.

As I've stated in the past, moving on with the show after hearing the infamous "It was Arrested Development" line in S03E13 would be a shark jump to say the least. It's come full circle, and it never would've made sense to keep the show going.

My God... I feel a piece of me has just died.

Who's down for a candlelight vigil in memory of the Bluth family?

On the bright side, at least I won't have to get Showtime now...
