It's hard to get recognition when you are sharing screen time with Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Streisand and Ben Stiller, but Teri Polo has actually been part of both "Meet the Parents" blockbusters. Remember? Ben Stiller actually has a significant other!
Now Polo will be the headliner of a new TV show. The Hollywood Reporter says that the actress has been tapped to star in the CBS comedy "Welcome to the Jungle Gym."
She'll play a successful journalist who cuts her hours to be a full-time mom. I guess wackiness will ensue, but I am seeing a lot of poo-related jokes -- and not of Farrelly caliber. She'll also have two buddies to bitch to about the whole "crazy" scenario. Moms are funny like that.
Polo was actually a hot commodity for sitcoms this season, and she chose this one. I'd like to see what got rejected. She says she chose it because in some ways it mirrors her own life. Unfortunately, not everyone's life can be a sitcom. Maybe I'm wrong. It's got to be better than the short-lived "I'm With Her."
Good for her though. After all, her stint on "The West Wing" will be wrapping up this spring. No word on when "Welcome to the Jungle Gym" might get into the primetime swing of things. -- Rachel Cericola
